7 Healthy Foods to Eat

These foods will never let you down!

World Diabetes Day is on November 14th. It's a day when millions of people around the world come together to raise awareness of diabetes. Saladmaster is a proud supporter of World Diabetes Day, the American Diabetes Association, and Diabetes UK — all in an effort to fight the causes of diabetes and support better treatments worldwide.

It’s also a good time to recommit ourselves to eating well. We know that a healthy-eating plan is the best way to keep blood glucose level under control and prevent diabetes complications. But as we try to live healthier and more active lives, it can be challenging to determine which healthy foods to eat. Every year, certain foods that were once on the “good list” have been moved to the “bad list” and vice versa. However, there are some reliable, consistent foods that if we use them in our meal planning we can trust we’re on the right path.

Saladmaster is focused on healthy home cooking. If you would like to learn more about how our cookware maintains the nutrients and flavor in your foods, contact an Independent Saladmaster Dealership near you.

Which healthy foods to eat should you put on your grocery list? Here are seven suggestions:

1. Eggs

According to Heathline.com, “Eggs are among the most nutritious foods on the planet.” At one time, they were criticized for being high in cholesterol, but new studies from the USDA, the National Institutes of Health and the British Medical Journal show that they’re safe and extremely healthy—a high quality protein with zero carbs and no sugar.

2. Broccoli

Broccoli tastes great both raw and cooked. It’s a good source of fiber and vitamins C and K and contains a fair amount of protein compared to other vegetables.

3. Almonds

Almonds are loaded with vitamin E, antioxidants, magnesium, and fiber. Studies from the National Institutes of Health show that almonds can help you lose weight and improve metabolic health. Almonds are a great snack in between meals.

4. Sardines

According to Healthline.com, sardines are “among the most nutritious foods you can eat. They boast sizable amounts of most nutrients that your body needs.” This small, oily fish is packed with Omeg-3, a fatty acid to help prevent heart disease. It is also an excellent source of B-12 and calcium.

5. Blueberries

Few people would deny that blueberries are extremely delicious. They are also among the most powerful sources of antioxidants in the world. Antioxidants are important because they protect cells from damage.

6. Sweet potatoes

Sweet potatoes are a delicious starchy food. They’re loaded with antioxidants and all sorts of healthy nutrients. They're a good source of most of our B vitamins, vitamin C, and beta-carotene.

7. Cauliflower

Finally, at Saladmaster, we’re big fans of cauliflower. It is incredibly versatile—acting as a substitute for more carb-heavy ingredients. Cauliflower is high in fiber and B-vitamins.

With any major diet changes, you may want to consult your doctor or a licensed nutritionist. Ask them what is best for you in combination with other healthy lifestyle changes. Our Saladmaster Dealers can help show you how to best prepare these foods in our cookware. What are some of your favorite foods? Let us know on social media through Facebook or Instagram.
