Wonderful Reads that Might Change Your Life

At Saladmaster, our tagline is “We Change Life.” You’ll see this phrase almost everywhere associated with our brand—from our website, to our aprons and everything in between. We take this precept seriously. We seek to empower people and enable them to achieve incredible life transformations. 

As summer wraps up and the back to school bustle begins, we’d like to share a few books that also seek to change life. It’s amazing how the right message at the right time can make a profound difference, and sometimes that wisdom on the page will stick with us for a lifetime.

These books are some we enjoyed. Some were written recently, and others have been on the market for a while. Results may vary. If you get into the book and find that it’s not for you, put it aside and pick up something else. We won’t tell the author.

Books on Eating Well

There are a lot of food trends out there. Some burst onto the scene with a lot of buzz, but fade over time. Others just make sense. These books suggest practical approaches and come from a wide range of perspectives. For any drastic diet changes, we’d recommend consulting a health care professional first.

   

Practical Paleo: A Customized Approach to Health and a Whole-Foods Lifestyle 

In this popular book by Diane Sanfilippo, she makes a case for avoiding processed foods and a few other surprising items to improve how you look and feel. This 480-page book is a beast — full of information, meal plans, and recipes. If you like Sanfilippo’s message, she has several other books as well as a weekly podcast “Balanced Bites” for your morning commute.

In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto

At Saladmaster, we love Michael Pollan. His book was published almost ten years ago, but it still rings true. Most of what we’re consuming today is longer the product of nature, but of food science. So, what's the answer? His approach is summed up in seven simple words: "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants."

Since most nutrition products and training plans are designed for men, many women struggle to reach their potential. This book by Stacy T. Sims focuses on fitness and nutrition designed for women.
