Journey to Success

How to Achieve the Life You Desire in 2019

The journey metaphor is a potent one.

We all start at different places, but nobody is where they want to be, not yet. Sometimes we can go astray and get lost. Sometimes we need someone to help us stay the course. And of course, we can always expect obstacles along the way. When we think of life in terms of a journey, we are thinking of life as an exciting process of discovery, an adventure across unexplored terrain.

The journey is a universal story. Everyone starts someplace and takes a step into uncharted territory, which leads us to something better than ever imagined. The journey is where we uncover what’s possible.

We challenge you to think of this new year as a journey. Here are three ways it might change your perspective.

1. A Journey is Intentional

A journey requires someone to make a decision. Sitting down and going nowhere is always an option. When we put one foot in front of the other and start moving forward, that is a choice we make. We decide our course and set goals. This may seem obvious. But to achieve success in life, it’s essential to have a plan in place.

It’s also important to remember that a journey is a process. We won’t get where we want to be immediately. Being intentional about our goals also allows us a degree of grace for when we are still many miles away.

2. A Journey Requires Courage

Every journey is a risk. We risk never reaching our intended destination. But nothing great was ever achieved without some degree of risk. However, we are risk-averse creatures. The journey requires us to check our natural impulses, take a deep breath, and go for it.

What is the benefit of courage and risk taking? I think that when we try for great things, even when we fall short, that extra ounce of courage makes us better prepared for the next moment, when we dust ourselves off, and try again.

3. A Journey Can Change Life

I mentioned before that “sitting down and going nowhere is always an option.” But that’s not entirely true, is it? Life itself is a journey. It moves on with or without us. The best thing we can do sometimes is take the path we see if front of us — or set a new path for ourselves. Regardless, we will be changed.

If we’re not content with where we are, that path is not only a challenge — it’s a gift. Our lives can change. The difficulties of the past do not need to accompany us with where we’re going. Who knows where we will end up? As Saladmaster president, Ayo Olaseinde often says, “Anything is possible.”

Saladmaster Theme for 2019

As you might have guessed, “Journey to Success” is this year’s theme at Saladmaster.

This theme encourages people to share their own stories. And this is what we’re most excited about — getting a chance to hear Life Changers share their experiences. And then, we invite others to begin a similar journey. We’re thankful to take these first steps with you.

It makes me think of these words by C.S. Lewis, “There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.”

What journey are you taking this year? Post about it on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Use the #Saladmaster hashtag so we can celebrate this new beginning with you!
