A True Partnership for Change Between Christian Aid and Saladmaster

Stafford, England (April 14, 2016) - Saladmaster, an international cookware company, has been selected as a finalist for the 2016 ‘Company with Heart’ award at the annual UK Direct Selling Association (DSA) Conference to be held in Nottinghamshire on Thursday, May 19.

This privilege is in recognition of the organisation’s ‘Partnership for Change’ initiative with Christian Aid. This alliance was formed in direct response to a statistic that more than half of the world’s population cook on open fires, using solid fuels such as wood or charcoal causing deadly indoor air pollution (IAP). IAP is responsible for 4.3 million deaths a year, a large proportion of which occur in Africa. Despite the dangers, poorer families have no alternative. Many do not know that better stoves exist, and even those who do can’t afford to buy such a ‘luxury’.

In early 2015, Saladmaster and Christian Aid decided to collaborate to address the adverse health, livelihood and environmental impacts of solid fuel and the development of Improved Cook Stoves (ICS). Use of ICS has been shown to improve cooking efficiency when compared with traditional cooking methods, reducing the quantity of cooking fuel required and time expended in collecting such fuels. Consequently, this delivers the potential to improve health, increase household income and benefit the environment and global climate.

The DSA ’Company with Heart’ award is given to a Member Company who has Gone the Extra Mile through their philanthropic activities, charitable impact and community engagement.

Both organisations aligned vision and set of values made the partnership a truly natural fit according to Saladmaster UK President, Ayo Olaseinde.

“We believe that through our collaboration, there is a real opportunity to have a great and continued impact to ‘Change Life’. Saladmaster is in the business of making life better. For decades, we’ve offered the world premium products that inspire better cooking, healthier living and all kinds of life changing opportunities. Christian Aid recognises that poor health is not only a result of poverty, but a cause. Without good health, making a living can be difficult in already challenging circumstances. Together, we want to work to deliver support and care to the communities that need it most.”

Saladmaster, a division of Regal Ware Worldwide™, is headquartered in Arlington, TX. Saladmaster premium quality cookware is manufactured in the U.S.A. from manufacturers of 316Ti stainless steel with titanium produced exclusively for Saladmaster.
