A Kitchen Invitation

by Cathy Vogt, Certified Health Coach & Natural Foods Chef

Let's talk about one of the most important relationships in your life. You know, your relationship with the kitchen and cooking. How is that going? Flip a coin. Half of you are saying, "Great!", and the rest of you were the ones that answered, "Hate to Cook," in a recent Harvard Business Review poll.

Why is there such a resistance to cooking when we know how important it is for health? If you think about it, what you put into your body is the fuel that feeds your brain, builds new cells, keeps your organs functioning and becomes you! Cooking your own food with quality ingredients is one of the best investments of your time. I encourage you to see your kitchen as a fun best friend.

Do you feel like you're stepping into unknown territory in the kitchen? You're not alone. There are many people who have never learned to cook or had the opportunity. I was lucky to grow up in a home where I could experiment in the kitchen. My mother went back to work when I was a teenager and cooking family dinners became something I looked forward to. What was your experience? Those early years can shape our love-hate relationship with cooking.

Are you one of the 50% who enjoys cooking but always seems to run short on time? We are busier than ever these days and it can be easy to just pick up something on the way home or hit the drive through for a quick meal. Planning and meal prepping in advance can make putting together dinner just as quick as ordering take out. Do you want dinner waiting when you get home? Look at the Saladmaster MP5 and Saladmaster Electric Skillet, and set up your meal earlier in the day. Make cooking a social event! Gather together with a few friends to cook a meal. Community can be just as nourishing as the food on the table. Most kids love to get their hands wet, show them how to wash vegetables and use the Saladmaster Food Processor to slice, shred and cut ingredients. Have you noticed that your kids are more willing to try something new if they've helped make it?

Saladmaster offers many opportunities to learn and improve your cooking skills.
Have you considered hosting a cooking show in your home? You'll learn time saving tips, gain confidence and enjoy some delicious food. Once you get the basics there is ongoing support with cooking videos and recipes to keep you inspired.

Do you want more energy to enjoy your life? Are you tired of not feeling well or concerned about a health issue? Cooking healthier foods at home with whole, real, minimally processed ingredients is a great way to take control of your health. When you feed your body the food it needs to thrive, you begin to feel better. Shift your thinking around cooking. What positive changes can it have on your life and the lives of those you love? Get on into the kitchen and get cooking, you're worth it!
